I wrote this comic (adapted from a prose version that may someday be available to read) intending to draw it myself, and I had even done about half of the first chapter before I met Ben. At the time, I was working on both this project and Pictures of You, and when Ben and I decided to work together I offered him a choice between the two. Although I love his interpretation of the PoY characters, I was thankful he chose to illustrate Eden as soon as I saw this first page. Compared to this, what I had drawn looked like a child's crayon scribblings on newsprint...soaked in urine. Too visceral? Still, every page he has delivered to me since then has been better than the last, and watching his progression as an artist even during the first chapter of Our Time in Eden has been breathtaking.
That background is very minimal, great job DF. There's a good visual contrast here and I'm sure Mr. Twist's story will be as compelling as POY. Can't wait to see where this goes.
You know, just as side note, I suspect this girl is going to be a victim of rape or something equally terrible. You do manage to make it look pretty, even knowing that something bad has or will be happening to her.
